A Little Update From Me

There’s quite a lot happening behind the scenes at the moment, so I thought it was time for a proper update.

For those who are new here, I’m Zoe Hethershaw, an author and holistic health practitioner. I’ve spent more than 17 years working with people in different areas of holistic health and wellbeing, including Reiki, acupressure, reflexology, massage, guided meditation and other hands-on therapies. Before that, I ran a home healthcare company for 15 years.

But as much as I love the practical side of this work, what has always interested me most is the person underneath it all—their story, their experiences, the behaviours they’ve learned and the things they may still be carrying without really understanding why.

That has increasingly become the focus of my writing and the projects I’m creating.

My Writing

Over the years, I’ve written everything from spiritual fiction and poetry to memoir and personal stories exploring trauma, relationships, identity and healing.

My writing has changed as I have. These days, I’m much more interested in the questions underneath our behaviour. Why do we stay in situations that hurt us? Why do we struggle to set boundaries? Why do we put everyone else first? Why do we carry guilt that doesn’t belong to us? And how much of what we believe about ourselves was actually learned from other people?

Those questions are at the heart of The Great Investigation, a workbook I’m developing to help people explore their own patterns, learned behaviours, wounds, boundaries and relationships with themselves.

It isn’t about finding what’s wrong with you. It’s about understanding yourself. Sometimes the things we do that no longer serve us were once exactly what we needed to survive.

Once you understand where something came from, you can decide whether you still want to carry it.

The Dragonfly Method™

The Dragonfly has become an important symbol in my work because of what it represents to me: transformation, perspective and change.

That has developed into the Dragonfly Method™, which is becoming a bigger part of what I’m building. My aim is to create practical ways for people to explore themselves honestly and begin making changes from a place of understanding rather than shame.

There’s more coming with this, including educational material and further development of the method, and I’m taking the time to build it properly.

Beneath the Scars with Zoe

I’ve also been putting more energy into my podcast, Beneath the Scars with Zoe.

The podcast gives me somewhere to have conversations that don’t always fit neatly into a book. Relationships, trauma, boundaries, self-worth, why we stay, loyalty, the expectations placed on women and the point where we finally decide we’ve had enough of abandoning ourselves to keep everyone else happy.

I want these conversations to be honest and real. Sometimes serious, sometimes uncomfortable and, because I’m British, occasionally accompanied by a bit of humour.

I’m not interested in pretending that healing is simple or that I have all the answers. I’m interested in asking better questions and encouraging people to look at themselves with a little more honesty and compassion.

What’s Next

There are more books in the works, more podcast episodes coming, and more development happening around The Great Investigation and the Dragonfly Method™.

I’m also continuing my holistic practice and the work I do with people individually.

Everything I’m creating seems to come back to the same thing: helping people understand themselves rather than constantly trying to fix themselves.

I’ve spent a lot of my life looking after other people, helping other people and trying to be what was needed. I’m at a point now where choosing myself has become just as important.

And that has changed the way I write, the way I work and the things I want to create.

I don’t have every part of my life figured out. I’m still learning, still healing and still changing. But I think there’s something valuable in being honest about that.

You don’t need to have everything sorted before you start moving forward.

Sometimes you just need to be willing to look at yourself differently.

So that’s my little update for now. There’s plenty more happening behind the scenes, and I’m looking forward to sharing it with you as it unfolds.

Thanks for being here.
